Lead Barista
4 days / 25-30 hours / End August Start
We are looking for a Lead Barista with at least two years’ coffee experience, and ideally at least one year in a similar position. However, we are open to someone who has been a barista for a while and is looking to increase their level of responsibility taking on this role.
We’re looking for someone with an exceptionally positive attitude and who is a great communicator. This individual will have an active interest in food as well as coffee, ideally eating out regularly or cooking at home. We’re a small team who cover a variety of roles, so we’re looking for someone who is as comfortable explaining our food offering to customers as they are pouring a great cup behind the bar. It’s important to state that this is not simply a coffee role, and you’ll be expected to be on the floor at times too, providing our customers with attentive and warm table service.
Our main roaster is Ozone with a rotating selection of guest roasters which will be curated by you. You’ll be expected to contact new roasters and make decisions about which guest roasters we’ll be serving. We work on a Linea PB ABR, Mahlkonig E65s GBW and EK-43.
Applicants must be able to work Saturdays. Sunday and Monday off every week.
Responsibilities will include:
To monitor coffee stock, placing orders as required
To monitor consumables stock
To monitor soft drinks stock, placing orders as required
To curate our guest roaster programme
To manage quality control of coffee making across the team
To train staff as required
To set recipes for espresso and filter
To monitor machine maintenance, deep cleaning as required
You will:
Possess a friendly disposition and exceptionally positive attitude
Be fastidious about cleanliness, organisation and timekeeping
Share our passion for providing outstanding hospitality
Have at least two years’ experience in coffee, and ideally one years’ experience in a similar role
Be a direct, concise and effective communicator
Have an interest in food and cook/eat out regularly
Be able to work independently and self-manage, but also work well within a team
Have excellent English communication skills
