FULL-TIME SOUS CHEF, 38-42 hours – 5 shifts a week. March start. From £28-32k per annum.

We are looking for an experienced, competent and reliable Sous Chef to join our small team. A can-do, positive and hardworking attitude is a must.

We’re looking for someone with creative drive who ideally has experience in managing a small (or large!) kitchen before. Our cooking has a wide range of influences; this person might have cooked in a variety of places or have a keen interest in different cuisines.

You’ll be working alongside our chef/owner, chef/baker and our very competent KP. You’ll be expected to place orders, create new dishes weekly, and manage rotating said new dishes on to the menu. We run a tight, organised kitchen and part of your responsibility will be following our systems and ensure they are being adhered to by other staff.

Perks of the job include; no evenings and sociable hours (shifts finish 4pm and start at 730am at the earliest). Sunday & Monday off, every week. Staff food is different every day and uses the same amazing produce that is on our menu.

We have done evening events in the past with a set menu format and are keen to do more this year.

Applicants must be able to work Saturdays. The café is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

You will

  • Be comfortable creating new dishes

  • Be confident managing a small kitchen

  • Be confident in placing orders with different suppliers

  • Be confident in managing stock, both fresh and dry

  • Be exceptionally reliable, and fastidious about time-keeping

  • Possess a friendly disposition and positive attitude

  • Be detail-orientated, precise and systematic in your approach to your work

  • Be open to feedback and adaptable

  • Be organised and able to follow our systems consistently

  • Be actively engaged with London’s food scene

  • Be responsible for your own food knowledge and use this to creatively contribute to our menu

  • Share our passion for providing outstanding hospitality

  • Be able to work independently and self-manage, but also work well within a team

  • Have excellent English communication skills
